The Blackboard Course Web Site This page describes the basic layout of a Blackboard course web site and how to navigate the site to find course materials and tools.

Announcements Learn how to access course announcements in Blackboard.

Assignments Learn how to complete and submit assignments in Blackboard using the Blackboard Assignment feature.

Digital Drop Box Exchange files with your instructor using the Digital Drop Box. Learn how to use this convenient tool.

Collaboration Tools Blackboard contains interactive chat applications, Virtual Classroom and Lightweight Chat. Learn how to use these tools to interact with your classmates and instructor.

Quizzes and Surveys You can complete quizzes, tests, and surveys online. Many instructors use quizzes both for credit and for practice exams. In addition, the survey feature allows instuctors to poll a class to determine whether students have learned a concept or even for such mundane questions as when to hold a review session. Discussion Board Blackboard has a threaded discuslsion list that allows class discussions to occur outside normal class hours. Learn how to read and respond to classmates comments.

E-Mail Blackboard has an e-mail function with the capability to send e-mail to all individuals in a course. You can e-mail an instructor or one or more of your classmates. Editing your Home Page Blackboard has home pages for students associated with each course. You can use these pages to get to know your classmates. No web design experience needed.

Using the Calender and Task managers Blackboard has tools for managing appointments and tasks that allow you to list important events on your Blackboard start page. Learn how you can track manage your schedule using Blackboard.

Grades You can view grades that your instructor records in the Blackboard gradebook from any web browser.
