Workshop documentationThese documents are longer detailed documents describing the use of Blackboard. All are posted as pdf documents. Getting Started with Blackboard: Learn the basics of setting up a Blackboard course site, includes navigating the control panel, modifying the course menu, turning on and off student tools, changing the course design, and setting the course title and description. Adding Content to your Blackboard course: This handout describes how to add content to your course site. Content might be documents such as the syllabus and handouts or it might be links to web resources. Blackboard Communication tools: Blackboard has a suite of communication tools such as chat, discussion boards, and the capability to send e-mail. This handout describes the use of these tools from an instructor role. Chat: Learn the basics of using Blackboard's Lightweight Chat tool. Similar to Instant Messenger, Lightweight Chat is a text only synchronous communication tool. Blackboard Grade Center: Blackboard has a gradebook in which you can record student grades. Students can view their own grades from the student view grades tool. Assessments in Blackboard: Blackboard has tools to create tests, quizzes, and surveys. While you may not use the test manager for graded assignements you might find it useful for practice quizzes. The survey tool allows you to create anonymous surveys.Quick GuidesQuick Guides are single page documents describing how to complete simple tasks in Blackboard. Tips and TricksTips and Tricks include instructions to simplify your use of Blackboard or suggest instructional goals that Blackboard that can help you achieve. The documents here are narrowly targeted for specific tasks or applications. Link to Current Content from the Course menu: Creating a link to current content from the course menu provides students with a rapid way to navigate your course site. (pdf | HTML) Course Menu Item names can contain HTML: Using HTML in menu item names can provide a method of organizing your course menu for your students. (pdf | HTML) Create External Links of the week or Course Banner of the week: Students revisit websites that change. Create weekly changes to attract students to the site using External Links tool on the Course Menu or by changing the Course Banner. (pdf | HTML) Add Course Links to Announcements: When you post an announcement telling students of new content that you've made available add a link to the content item to allow them to go directly from the content from the announcement.
