Hounds THIRD in Super Regional Golf
ERIC NAGLIERI FINISHES FOURTH INDIVIDUALLY

West Lafayette, OHIO --- Assumption College men's golf team finished THIRD as a team in the N.C.A.A. Division II Super Regional Tournament here yesterday. Northeast-10 Conference rivals Bryant College (924) and LeMoyne (950) finished ahead of the Greyhounds (963) who were one stroke better than Bentley College (964).

Junior ERIC NAGLIERI (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) finished a dream season on a slight down note with an 11-over 83 to finish 10 strokes off the pace set by Bryant's Jason Clary. Naglieri concluded the 54-hole tournament with 75-77-83 -235. His 83 was only the second round this year not in the 70s.

Freshman CHRIS COWELL (Burlington, CT/Burlington) (81-83-76--240) finished tenth overall with a Greyhound best four-0ver 76 today, while junior KEITH BAIRD (Bedford, MA/Bedford) carded a 78 en route to an 83-81-78--242 and fourteenth place. The tournament is hosted by the University of Charleston, WV on the 6.586-yard, par 72 River Green's Golf Club in West Lafayette, Ohio.

Other Greyhound scores include: 17th, senior TIM ANGER (Sutton, MA/St. John's), 82-83-84--249; 23rd, sophomore JOSH FARMER (Spencer, MA/Holy Name), 80-88-86--254.

Seventy nine teams and 44 individuals were selected to participate in the 2002 N.C.A.A. Division II Men's Golf Championship Super Regionals. All teams and individuals played three rounds of 18-holes to determine those who move on to the national final. Eighteen teams and 12 individuals advance to the championship May 21-24 at the Mission in Golf Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The final is hosted by Rollins College.
