West Lafayette, OHIO --- If the second two rounds are as good, or as easy, as the first round, then this could be a special week for the Assumption College men's golf team.

The Greyhounds, playing in their first N.C.A.A. Northeast Super Regional Tournament are six strokes off the pace as a team, while junior ERIC NAGLIERI (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) continues his season long tear with a first-round 36-39--75. His 36 over the first nine holes had him tied for the lead with Neil Reidy (LeMoyne) and Titus Schlosser (Bentley).

Northeast-10 Conference rival Bryant College (312) leads the event after 18 holes with Assumption (318) and Bentley (318) tied for second. The tournament is hosted by the University of Charleston, WV on the 6.586-yard, par 72 River Green's Golf Club in West Lafayette, Ohio.

Seventy nine teams and 44 individuals were selected to participate in the 2002 N.C.A.A. Division II Men's Golf Championship Super Regionals. All teams and individuals will play three rounds of 18-holes to determine those who move on to the national final. Eighteen teams and 12 individuals advance to the championship May 21-24 at the Mission in Golf Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The final is hosted by Rollins College.

Naglieri has played 13 rounds of golf this season, including the fall, and has turned in 12 rounds of 79 or less. His 'worst' round has been an 80 in the second round of the New England Invitational.

Other Greyhound scores include sophomore JOSH FARMER (Spencer, MA/Holy Name), who despite a broken wrist suffered just two weeks ago, carded a 40-40--80; freshman standout CHRIS COWELL (Burlington, CT/Burlington) had a 40-41--81; senior captain TIM ANGER (Sutton, MA/St. John's) (38-44- 82) and junior KEITH BAIRD (Bedford, MA/Bedford) (42-41--83).
