LEARN TO SWIM

The Campus Recreation Office will be offering American Red Cross Certified Swimming Lessons at the Plourde Recreation Center Pool. The Learn-to-Swim program offers a multi-level system, which will encompass all of your swimming needs. Each level focuses on water safety education, safety skills, movement skills and swimming skills. Lessons will run for a half-hour on each Saturday for ten weeks. Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis.

Registration: Thursday January 16th:  4:30 PM - 6:00 PM.
Class Dates:  1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/22, 3/1, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, 4/26

(9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/19, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 12/7)
Location: Plourde Recreation Center– Pool
Instructor: Water Safety Instructors
Cost: $80
Limit: 20 participants for Parent/Child class, 30 participants for Learn-to-Swim classes

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION

The Campus Recreation Office will be offering the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course. This course covers the skills and knowledge required for effective swimming instruction. Upon successful completion, students will receive a WSI certification (1 card good for 3 years).

WSI will be offered during the spring semester, contact the campus recreation office at 508-767-7072 .

Lifeguarding Certification

The Campus Recreation Office will be offering the American Red Cross Certified Lifeguarding Today course. This course covers the skills and knowledge required for effective lifeguarding at swimming pools. Upon successful completion, students will receive Lifeguarding Today/First Aid Certification (1 card good for 3 years), Standard First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification (good for 1 year). 
***A pre-test will be conducted during the first session to determine continued participation. Participants must be 15 years of age or older and in good physical condition.
