Student Leadership in Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry Core Team

The Campus Ministry Core Team consists of students who assist campus ministers with the planning and facilitation of programming throughout the academic year. The Core Team works together as a team and creates a supportive environment for students to share their faith experiences. These leaders meet regularly as a group and with campus ministers throughout the academic year with the mission of providing meaningful and enjoyable faith-based opportunities to their peers.

Peer Ministers

In collaboration with Residential Life, the Peer Ministry program provides an opportunity for student leaders to participate in the work of faith development among our students and to grow in their own faith.  Peer Ministers meet weekly as a group to nurture their own spiritual lives and then work daily within the residence halls to encourage their fellow students to talk about their own faith journeys.  Peer Ministers also provide prayer opportunities for residents within the halls to engage with students outside of the more formal liturgy setting.

Please contact Ben Kadamus in Residential Life or Fr. Ron Sibugan, AA in Campus Ministry for more information.

Retreat teams

Another meaningful way for a student to become a leader in Campus Ministry is to become a team leader for one of the student-led retreats. Opportunities to lead are offered to those who have already participated in the START and Horizon Retreats. For further information on becoming a retreat team member, please contact Stephanie McCaffrey.

Retreats Serving the Worcester Diocese

SEARCH Retreats (Students Encountering and Responding to CHrist) give Assumption students the opportunity to offer retreats to high school students in the Worcester diocese, many of whom are preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation. A few of the parishes SEARCH volunteers have provided retreats to include:

  • St. Anne/St. Patrick parish in Sturbridge
  • St. Denis parish in Ashburnham
  • St. Edward the Confessor parish in Westminster
  • St. Rose of Lima parish in Northborough

All SEARCH Retreats take place at Assumption. The program provides motivated Assumption students with the opportunity to share their faith and making a meaningful difference in the lives of high school students. Parishes that would like to inquire about the possibility of having SEARCH provide a retreat for their Confirmation class are encouraged to contact Deacon Dick Martino at 508-767-7191.
