CAPITAL
PROJECTS
Science Center
Scheduled
to open in September 2003. The new 63,000 sq. ft. Science Center will
house the Department of Natural Sciences, composed of chemistry, biology
and physics, on three full floors. A greenhouse and faculty/student research
space will be located on the roof. Over 5,000 sq. ft. of space will be
available for meetings, study, and faculty/student interaction. Other
highlights include a state-of-the-art multimedia lecture hall, technology-enhanced
classrooms of various sizes, a computer classroom, and additional computer
access throughout the building.
Other
Capital Needs
The Kennedy
Science Building will be converted into classroom space. The Hagan Campus
Center will undergo renovations to better serve the needs of the student
body and the campus. Plans for an addition to the Chapel of the Holy Spirit,
for Campus Ministry offices and meeting space, are also being considered.
A multi-purpose field for football and lacrosse will be constructed to
alleviate the wear and tear on the natural turf field. This synthetic
turf field will allow for a repositioning of the baseball field for competitive
purposes, which will enable the soccer field to be situated completely
on the outfield turf. The College is also considering the construction
of two new practice fields on the recently acquired property at the north
end of campus for varsity and intramural use.
ENDOWMENT
The endowment supports student scholarships, financial aid, specialized
learning institutes, and miscellaneous initiatives. Financial aid awards
will ensure that an Assumption education will be accessible to students
from all economic, racial and ethnic backgrounds. With the dramatic increase
in the percentage of students needing and receiving financial aid awards
(89 percent), endowment funds are critical in helping provide budget relief.
Merit scholarship awards enable the College to attract accomplished students
with significant potential for collegiate success. They enhance the academic
climate, which helps the College enhance its reputation. All five of the
Colleges Fulbright Scholarship award winners over the past two years
were also merit scholarship recipients.
ANNUAL
FUND
The Centennial Campaign will include the 2002-2006 Annual Funds. Funds
received through the Annual Giving program are essential to preserving
the financial stability and ensuring the administrative flexibility of
the College, allowing for the strengthening of existing programs and services,
and the creation of new ones.
