MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Assumption College
Parents Committee to serve the College and its parents by providing ongoing communication
between the College and its parent constituency. The Parents Committee is
committed to increasing gifts to the College through the Parents Fund of
the Annual Fund, as well as serving as a positive communication network between
the College and parents.
GOAL AND INITIATIVES
The goal of the Parents Committee is to
identify a leadership parent team to provide support to the
College in some of the following ways:
Participate in
the Annual Fund and consider joining the
President's Council,
a distinguished group of alumni, parents, and friends
who make an annual commitment of $1,000 or more to the
College;
Assist the Career Development Center, providing career advice for students and developing internship opportunities;
Assist the Admissions Office in their efforts to recruit students to Assumption by participating in college fairs, contacting respective parents, or hosting regional parent receptions;
Assist the Office of Student Life by welcoming new parents to the College and providing input for parent activities; and
Provide input for Parents News, the newsletter for Assumption parents. |
WHY BE INVOLVED?
Through various activities and events on and off campus, the Parents Committee provides opportunities for parents to become more closely involved in the life of the College and at the same time, preserve, enhance, and improve the quality of the Assumption experience for their children and their children’s classmates. Parents are encouraged to be actively engaged with the College by staying informed of issues and goals, as well as being provided with in-depth information directly relating to campus life. Serving as ambassadors on and off campus, Assumption parents are recognized for their commitment to the future of their children’s alma mater.
The Parents Committee meets twice a year, once in the fall during Family Weekend and once in the spring. New members of the Parents Committee are always welcome! All Assumption volunteers share an interest in the College, but only parent volunteers share the special bond of parenting an Assumption College student.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of both current and former Assumption parents, a record $130,828 was contributed in fiscal year 2006-07 to the Annual Fund – 11% of the total Annual Fund dollars raised!
Gifts to the Annual Fund provide current-use dollars that help support student financial aid and co-curricular activities like the Reach Out Center, which provides opportunities for Assumption students to engage in community service in the greater Worcester area. |
