
Richard J. Testa, Esq. ’59
Dick was the recipient of the Jack L. Bresciani ’72 Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1984 for his outstanding dedication and service to Assumption College. He was an advisor, benefactor and friend to the College and an active member of many campaigns and committees. Dick was a true leader in all aspects of his life. A world-renowned, legal pioneer in the venture capital and high technology industries, Dick was a mentor to countless entrepreneurs and attorneys. He would impress upon his clients and associates the importance of maintaining a balance in personal and professional life. He was devoted to his wife, Janet, and their family and served his alma mater with distinction.
He was a member of the board of trustees (1971-94), chairman of the board (1982-83) and an honorary trustee (1994-2002). Dick chaired the College’s capital campaign (1991-96) and was the honorary chair of the Centennial Campaign in 2000 before passing away unexpectedly in 2002. Janet Testa and their children, including Joanne Testa Goglia ’82 and Nancy Testa Doherty ’86, carry on Dick’s legacy at Assumption. The Richard and Janet Testa Science Center, completed in 2003, will be a lasting memorial to the entire Testa family.
