Paul Hand, Sr. ’56

Paul received the College’s Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2006. He served on the Alumni Board for 13 years during the 1960s and ’70s, and was Board President for a two-year term. He also chaired the Dollars for Scholars fundraiser in the 1970s. Paul served on the committees for his 40th and 50th Reunions and has returned to the Alumni Board. Admired for his volunteer work with local service organizations, he credits former AC President Fr. Georges Bissonnette, A.A. ’43 for influencing him to work with the less fortunate of Worcester.

Paul retired in 1999 as chair of the department of social work/social relations at Anna Maria College. He and wife Gloria, who retired from Assumption’s financial aid department in 1998, received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Anna Maria College in 2005. He has also earned awards from both the National Association of Social Workers and the Diocese of Worcester for his contributions to each organization.
