TRANSPORTATION
IN THE
1850s
|
 |
Transportation in the 1850's was a revolution. People
were able to travel city to city in the space of an afternoon
with the coming of the railroads. Communication between cities
and towns was also available instantly due to the telegraph.
Telegraph lines ran beside railroad tracks. America was connected
through tracks and lines. Horse pulling carriages and sleighs
were still being used, but only on a local, daily level. Trains,
not horses, were being used for long distance travel.
