Explore the world for a semester, a summer, or an entire academic year with Assumption’s study abroad program. Students generally travel in their junior or senior year and must have a 3.0 grade point average at the time of application, be in good judicial standing, and be mature and resourceful enough to adapt to a foreign environment.
Where do Assumption students go?
Assumption College students are globetrotters. They’ve gone to 16 countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America, Australia and Africa. You do not have to be proficient in the language of the country in which you wish to study. Some programs permit you to begin language study, other programs offer language immersion for those who are familiar with the language.
Some of the most frequently visited sites include:
- Sydney or Melbourne
- Madrid or Barcelona
- Rome or Florence
- Costa Rica
- Semester at Sea program, which includes stops in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, Egypt and Turkey
- Students with a stellar GPA might consider going to Oxford or Cambridge University for a semester, or a year.
Business Studies majors and minors can enhance their program of studies with extended travel abroad, acquiring valuable international business experience, and sharpening language skills. Often students are able to earn money teaching English, while learning a foreign language, such as in Japan.
Assumption's involvement with the ASIANetwork, a consortium of 170 liberal arts colleges and universities devoted to promoting Asian Studies, will provide students with more links to east and southeast Asia.
