Pre-Vet

Course Information

Program Overview

A career as a veterinarian is a great choice for someone who loves helping animals. Vets provide both preventative and emergency care—ensuring that our feathered, furred and scaled friends are healthy, happy and well-cared for—and to do that they need a broad education and variety of skills.

Becoming a veterinarian requires a strong academic background in math, research and the sciences, as well as good communications and interpersonal skills. Assumption’s Pre-Vet program, coupled with the College’s liberal arts education will provide you what you need to pursue a career in the field, and to assist the animals that need your help.

The Pre-Vet program prepares students to enter veterinary school after receiving their bachelor’s degree from Assumption. This advisory program provides students with recommended coursework accepted by most veterinary schools. Students are encouraged to check with each school in which they are interested in applying to be sure they meet all pre-requisites. Students in the Pre-Vet program are also encouraged to volunteer in the local community to learn more about the veterinary industry.
