When you study Political Science at Assumption College you learn both the theory and practice of politics and develop an understanding and appreciation for classical and modern political traditions. Not only does this help you prepare for a career in fields such as government service, international affairs, journalism, law, teaching and business, but it also prepares you to contribute to the American political system.


Assumption's strong liberal arts program provides you with courses that broaden your studies and enhances your critical thinking, research and communication skills.


Major in Political Science

Political Science majors complete 11 political science courses, including a senior research seminar, for a total of 33 credits.


Minor in Political Science

Students minoring in political science take 6 political science courses for a total of 18 credits. Students planning to minor in political science should consult a department advisor.


Pre-Law

Many students interested in political science also take advantage of Assumption's pre-law program, which offers individualized guidance that helps prepare students to apply to law school.
