Mathematics is at the foundation of nearly everything we do. From science to business to everyday life. we depend on Math to keep our world running.


At Assumption, Mathematics students grapple with equations and devise solutions to complex problems under the instruction of our expert faculty. You'll have the opportunity to study math in a stimulating and supportive environment where you can develop the reasoning abilities and technical proficiency sought after by employers in fields ranging from business to engineering to education.


Major

Students pursuing a major in Mathematics take a total of eleven (11) courses (33 credits) and an oral comprehensive examination.


Minor

A minor in mathematics consists of six (6) courses (18 credits).


Teacher Preparation Concentration

Students interested in the Concentration in Education consult with the Chairperson of the Mathematics Department and the Education Program Coordinator in the Education Department to plan a course of study.


Actuarial Science

Students interested in the actuarial profession should consult with the Chairperson of the Mathematics Department to plan a course of study


Engineering

Students in mathematics or computer science may choose to take advantage of Assumption’s engineering partnership with the University of Notre Dame, one of the nation’s leading engineering universities.
