Assumption offers two special academic opportunities for students who wish to challenge themselves and be with classmates who will do the same. Assumption’s Honors programs provide students with the tools needed to reach their full potential by helping them expand their minds and enhance their critical thinking skills as they consider new ideas and new ways of looking at the world.
The Honors Program offers a rigorous curriculum that enables students to delve into their individual academic interest/major and engage in independent scholarship with a senior capstone project. Invitations are extended to prospective and current students who meet specific criteria. Honors students participate in courses with others who share their passion and this creates a strong community of peers. Students in the Honors Program receive the Honors Program Certificate at graduation if they maintain a 3.25 GPA in all courses. You can participate in both the Honors Program and the Foundations Honors Certificate program.
The Foundations Honors Certificate recognizes those who have rigorously integrated the study of politics, arts, literature, theology, philosophy and history through the Fortin and Gonthier Foundation of Western Civilization program. All Foundations courses fulfill general education requirements and provide broad, interdisciplinary knowledge. Students who take all 6 of the Foundations courses and FND300: Special Topics in the Foundations of Western Civilization and maintain a 3.25 GPA in all those courses will receive a Foundations Honors Certificate at graduation. You can participate in for the Foundations Honors Certificate program and the Honors Program.
