The newly renovated Union Station in Worcester, MA was the site of the first Transportation Career Expo sponsored by the University Transportation Center/Assumption College held on May 25, 2001. The day was designed for middle school and high school students and was also open to the public. 21 exhibitors from different aspects of transportation careers and opportunities participated in the event. Over 800 students and adults attended. The students' excitement as they visited each of the different exhibits both within and outside of Union Station was contagious as they all enjoyed the day.

This event was held in conjunction with the Tour de Sol who were on the Worcester Commons with 50 alternative energy type vehicles.

Exhibitors included the following:

Douglas Cope, Massachusetts Highway Commission

Margaret Bacon, Women's Transportation Seminar

Joye Thaller, Boston Society Civil Engineers Section

Brian Niece, Assumption College

Richard Glavin, Worcester Regional Transit Authority
