The Campus Ecology Club at Assumption College

The Ecology Club was started at the beginning of the Fall 2000 semester at Assumption College through the efforts of the UTC. The purpose of the Ecology Club is to "Raise the environmental consciousness of students, faculty and staff through various projects such as recycling projects, looking at alternative forms of transportation (bicycles and bike racks, sustainable forms of transportation, etc.), cleanup and preservation of campus wetlands, etc."

Some of the projects that have been discussed and are in operation today are: collection of recyclables in Desautels, cleanup of trash just below the LLC to the Chapel area, recycle bin for white paper at Martel House, and raising the issue of bike racks to be placed outside classroom buildings.

There has been two events of picking up trash and once the snow is gone, more days will be scheduled. All are invited to participate in the Club's efforts to clean up areas of our campus so that the natural environment is retained.
