Students recognized by WalMart

Mr. Dartagnon Townes, manager of the West Boylston WalMart, presented a $5,000.00 Environmental Grant from the WalMart Foundation to the UTC to support and give special recognition to the Quinsigamond School Curriculum Project.


Career Expo Day

The newly renovated Union Station in Worcester, MA was the site of the first Transportation Career Expo sponsored by the University Transportation Center/Assumption College held on May 25, 2001

Standing on the Providence & Worcester Railroad bridge as it crosses the Blackstone River at Millville, Massachusetts, you are looking upstream to a point on the river bank where canal boats exited and entered the river via the lock just beyond the trees to the right of that site.

Summer 2001Institute

June 22-June 29, 2001: 9:00am-4:00pm, outline of program and pictures for Roads, Runoff, and Water Quality: Calculator-Based Assessment Institute.
Participants learned and practiced the modern techniques used by scientists to investigate environmental problems with the goal of teaching these practices in their own classrooms.


Summer Workshop 2002

July 1-3, 8-11, 2002: Railroad Ties in the Blackstone Valley - A workshop for Middle School Social Studies Teachers. An opportunity for teachers to research and develop lesson plans, interdisciplinary units and activies using primary sources, guest speakers, and site visits to important places in the history of the Providence and Worcester Railroad in the Blackstone Valley.


Teachers on a Train

Through the generosity of the Providence and Worcester Railroad, the Worcester Public School Teachers were able to experience a moving inservice day as they traveled by train to Woonsocket, RI.


Ecology Club

The Ecology Club was started at the beginning of the Fall 2000 semester at Assumption College through the efforts of the UTC.

Student of the year

-- Robert Doe
Rob is the first undergraduate student in the nation to receive this prestigious UTC Student of the Year Award with its $1,000.00 prize.

2001-- Ping Tai

The University Transportation Center is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Yuet Ping Tai as this year's recepient of the Student of the Year Award. Ping is our country's first high school student to receive this prestigious recognition.
