Student Research

Academic Research at Assumption

Opportunities for student research are certainly available for the inquisitive Assumption student through working one-on-one with their professor, on study-abroad projects, or independent study.

Our professors, though primarily a teaching faculty, are involved in a variety of academic research projects. Current research projects include:

• The Civil Rights Movement: Mississippi Freedom Summer

• Learning Sickness: A Year with Crohn’s Disease

• The Making of Meaning in Late Life: Research on Spirituality and Aging

• How to recruit foster parents, especially within the African American, Latino and Native American populations

• Computer modeling to test chemical reactions

• White masculinities focusing on the identity formation of white men in relation to matters of privilege and power
