Residence Life Information
  1. When will I find out where I will be living and whom my roommates are?
    Letters were mailed out on June 30th from the Office of Residential Life with your housing assignment and roommates' names and addresses. We encourage all students to contact their roommate(s) prior to arrival on campus in August.

  2. Are there "curfews" in the residence halls?
    No, there aren't any curfews in the living areas. Students who live on campus must learn what works for them with regards to the balancing of academics and social activities.

  3. Do I have to have a meal plan as a first-year student who is living on campus?
    First-year students do not have kitchens in their residence halls. The meal plan for first-year students provides unlimited and unrestricted access to Taylor Dining Hall throughout the semester. To read more about Ultimate Plus meal plan, go to http://www.assumptiondining.com/plans.html

  4. How do I pay for laundry on campus?
    There are washers and dryers in each living area. The machines do not take coins, you must use the Campus Cash on your student ID. Campus cash is used for vending, laundry, library copiers, Charlie’s, Taylor, Bookstore, and Dominos. The cost for washer and dryer is $1.25 each.

  5. Can I have a car on campus?
    No. First Year Students are not eligible to have a car on campus. However there are 2 rentals cars on campus thru UCarShare.com. Questions regarding the First Year Student Policy should be directed to Campus Police. Any student found violating the First Year Student policy may forfeit this privilege for their sophomore year too.

  6. I can't have a car on campus, what if I get sick and need a prescription?
    If you aren't feeling well, you should get checked out in Student Health Services (SHS), located in the Valley, across from Building and Grounds. If the doctor or the nurse practitioner prescribes a medication, they will make arrangements to have the medicine delivered to campus by the pharmacy. If you are currently on a prescription medication, you should plan ahead to make sure you have an adequate supply while away at college. Only new prescriptions written by SHS staff will be delivered to campus. Financial Information
  1. What bank operates the ATM machine on campus?
    Sovereign Bank. Representatives will be here on check-in day to assist in opening accounts and answering questions. There will also be other banks present to open accounts if you like.

  2. What is Campus Cash and how do I add it to my account?
    Campus Cash is used for laundry and vending and also accepted at the bookstore and Charlie's on campus, as well as Domino's pizza off campus! Instead of carrying cash, you can present your student ID and the amount of your purchase will be deducted from your campus cash account. You can activate your campus cash account by cash, check, or credit card in Taylor Dining Hall during opening weekend.

  3. How do I pay for laundry on campus?

Academic Information
  1. Can I make changes to my course schedule?
    The course schedule you received at orientation cannot be changed until you arrive on campus. There will be an Add/Drop period at the beginning of the semester during which you can make changes. You should consult with the Dean of Studies office and your Academic Advisor when you arrive on campus to discuss possible changes to your schedule.
Technology Information
  1. Are students required to have computers?
    No, students are not required to have computers, however most do.

  2. Where can I find information on purchasing a computer from Assumption College Information Technology Department?
    Check out the IT&MS web page at www.assumption.edu/dept/it/store.html . You should find all the information you need about computer purchases on this site.

Health Services Information
  1. I can't have a car on campus, what if I get sick and need a prescription?

AlcoholEdu Information
  1. What is Alcohol Edu?
    AlcoholEdu is an on-line course that all incoming first year and transfer students must take prior to starting classes in the fall. This course gives students the latest science based research to educate them about alcohol and its effects. Whether you drink or not, AlcoholEdu will empower you to make well informed decisions about alcohol, and help you cope with the drinking behavior of peers.

  2. When do I start to take AlcoholEdu?
    Members of the Class of 2015 will begin taking AlcoholEdu on July 25th. Access to the course is available on the main page of the portal, and students will receive more information about beginning the course in July.

  3. What happens if I don’t take AlcoholEdu?
    Students must complete Part 1 of AlcoholEdu prior to Move-In Day on August 26th. Students who have not completed Part 1 by August 26th will have a hold on their account, which will slow down your move in process
